An appeal to the Jews of America and Canada for financial support of its work and program of constructive relief has been issued by the Polish ORT Verband in Warsaw, the People’s ORT Federation of this city announced yesterday. The Polish ORT maintains trade schools, cooperative factories and cooperative agricultural colonies throughout Poland. It also was stated that the organization has enabled over 75,000 Jews in Poland to become productive and self-supporting.

In the appeal attention is drawn to the impoverished state of Polish Jews, who face economic collapse and great suffering at this time because of heavy government taxation and a campaign of Fascist economic anti-Semitism. It is pointed out that Polish Jews are now largely concerned with self-protection against physical on-slaught. The economic and physical factors have led to a decrease in support of the Jewish institutions fostered by the ORT, thus forcing the organization to appeal to American and Canadian brethren for assistance.
