Three Polish seamen who deserted from the Swedish freighter, Java, when it docked at Haifa, and asked asylum as political refugees until they could emigrate to Australia, will be returned to Sweden, the Israeli authorities decided today.
The three seamen had deserted a Polish ship in Sweden and later signed on the Swedish freighter. The Israeli authorities said the men did not have papers that would enable them to emigrate to Australia and decided to return the men to Sweden. The Polish consulate here, it was stated, was not approached in the case.
