The Sejm (Chamber of Deputies) Friday passed the Dudzinski bill for complete prohibition of shechita, which has been under partial ban since the beginning of 1936. The bill then went to the Senate, where no date for discussion of the proposal has been set yet.
The measure was voted over the objections of the government, voiced by the Vice-Minister of Agriculture. The only other votes against it were cast by the three Jewish deputies, the Ukrainian representatives and a few Polish legislators.
