A bill granting the Government special powers awaited the signature of President Moscicki today after it had been passed by the Senate with only the Jewish senator, Chief Rabbi Moses Schorr, offering opposition.
During the debate in the Senate yesterday, Rabbi Schorr reiterated demands voiced by Jewish members of the Sejm that the Government give assurances it would protect the Jews. He declared the situation of the Polish Jews was never as bad as today and charged that anti-Semitic incitement was permitted to continue unchecked and unpunished throughout the country.
The Sejm passed the bill last week with only Jewish deputies voting against it.
