Hundreds of students who have come to Grodno from the various Universities to stay with their families over the Christmas holidays have been going about in parties painting the city green, the colour of the anti-Jewish boycott movement. Jewish shop signs have been obliterated with green paint. Green anti-Jewish boycott proclamations have been posted up in the streets, and in some places even the pavements have been covered with green paint. Boycott leaflets were also distributed among the worshippers going to and from Church.
The Jewish population is angry that this has been allowed by the police to go on without hindrance, and the Administration of the Jewish Merchants’ Federation in Grodno has made representations to the police authorities and to the District Chief against the passive attitude of the police.
