Pope Pius XI was revealed today to have intervened personally to bring relief to the impoverished family of the German-Jewish savant Heinrich Hertz, now refugees in England. The Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church, learning of their plight, instructed Arthur Cardinal Hinsley, Archbishop of Westminster, to extend them all possible help. Hertz’s wife and daughter are Protestants.
