Pope Benedict XVI has named a new envoy to Israel. The Vatican announced Saturday that Archbishop Antonio Franco, currently Papal Nuncio in the Philippines, would take up the post as nuncio, or envoy, in Israel and Cyprus and become apostolic delegate in Jerusalem and the West Bank. Franco, 68, has served in the Philippines since 1999.
