Postal authorities here were asked today to ascertain what persons or groups are sending anonymous mimeographed postcards quoting Mohandas K. Ghandi, India’s leader, as declaring that “Palestine belongs to the Arabs in the same sense that England belongs to the English, and it is wrong and inhuman to impose Jews on the Arabs.”
The postcard, carrying no return address and no signature or any other sign which might indicate the identity of its sender, has been received during the last few days by editors, organizations and leading personalities. It carries a postal stamp showing that it was mailed in New York. It asserts that the quotation is taken from the February, 1939 issue of Asia magazine.
At the office of Asia magazine, the editors, who have received many inquiries during the last few days concerning the postcards, declared that the publication had not sent out the cards nor had it authorized anybody to do so. They have requested the Post Office department to look into the matter.
