Posters protesting against the Israel Museum’s intention to receive a $1,000,000 gift from Axel Springer, a leading West German publisher were posted on walls here today and have been distributed to passersby on main streets. The posters, signed by the “Committee for Israel’s Dignity,” warn “when the building will be completed, you will have to guard it night and day, as there are Jews who will not tolerate its existence.”
Last week, a Ministry of Education spokesman said that a final decision on the gift from Mr. Springer, offered for construction and maintenance of a special building to house a library and archives for the museum, would be taken at the “Cabinet level, ” and that the matter would rest until the decision was made.
