The U.S. Post Office Department, in what was believed the first instance in its history involving a special display of foreign stamps, opened a comprehensive exhibition of Israeli stamps here. Postmaster General Arthur Summerfield opened the exhibition at ceremonies attended by Israeli diplomats and other dignitaries.
The undertaking is sponsored by the Government of Israel, the Israel Ministry of Posts, Telephone and Telegraph, with the cooperation of the Israel Philatelic Agency in America. The exhibit endeavors to provide a panoramic view of life in Israel. It affords a glimpse of Israel’s Biblical roots, its everyday life, personalities, and landscapes.
