Impressed with the results produced by the Good Will Court of Brooklyn, founded by Municipal Court Justice Nathan Sweedler some years ago, Mayor George L. Spratt of Poughkeepsie, is arranging for a similar institution in his city.
For six years the Brooklyn court, designed for amicable settlement of disputes without resort to litigation, was watched by the mayor, the City Judge and the resident Supreme Court Justice who are now agreed on the advisability of such a court for their city. As in Brooklyn, it will be presided over by a Catholic, Protestant and Jew.
According to Judge Sweedler’s pattern, the Poughkeepsie good will court is to be free and non-sectarian.
