Sgt. David T. Colin, of St. Louis, a former correspondent of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency in Rome, was liberated by U. S. troops at Fergau, site of the historic junction of the American and Russian forces, the United Press reports today. Colin, who had been confined in Fort Zinna, Germany’s largest military prison, said that the Nazi guards had fled on Monday leaving the captives to run the prison.
Interned in Rome after Parl Harbor, Colin returned to the United States in June, 1942, aboard the Swedish steamer Drottingholm among a contingent of American diplorate and newspapermen exchanged for Axis nationals held here.
