The Prague Communist daily Rude Pravo has criticized the Arab states for trying to whip up a Moslem holy war against Israel over the fire at the Al Aksa mosque in East Jerusalem Aug. 21.
The paper said that instead of calling an all-Arab conference to discuss the fire, the Arabs have seen fit to call for a Moslem conference and thus escalate the Arab-Israeli conflict into a “holy war against the enemies of Islam.” This cannot arouse support for the Arab cause, Rude Pravo said.
(In another Czech development, Jewish New Year greetings have been exchanged between the Council of Jews from Czechoslovakia in London and the Union of Jewish Religious Communities in Czechoslovakia.)
