A revision of the citizenship lists, affecting persons naturalized since 1918, has been decided upon by the Government, Premier Rudolph Beran revealed today. Addressing the youth section of the National Unity Party, Premier Beran announced also that “order” would be introduced into the fields of press, cinema and radio, with Czechs to be “brought to the front” in all spheres of life. “We are specially concerned,” he said, “that our trade does not fall into the hands of alien, non-Czech elements.”
Mr. Beran gave assurances that there would be no infringement upon freedom of religion and that “elements who have lived in Czechoslovakia for generations” would be secure.
A decree providing that political emigres must leave Czechoslovak territory on order of the provincial administration, which will grant them a period one to six months in which to get out, was published today. The decisions of police authorities in the matter are not subject to appeal. The measure applies to all emigres, regardless of their religion or race.
