Prayers for President Roosevelt and for speedy victory of the United Nations marked the opening session here last night of the three-day Conference for the Strengthening of Judaism called by the Agudas Israel of America. The conference was attended by prominent rabbis and other religious leaders from all parts of the country.
The principal speakers at the opening session were Jacob Rosenheim, president of the World Organization of Agudas Israel and Rabbi Eliezer Silver of Cincinnati, president of the Agudas Israel of America. Rabbi Silver, dwelling on the sufferings of the Jewish communities in Nazi-occupied territories, emphasized that the Jews in America must now become more active in fostering Jewish religious traditions formerly staunchly observed by Jews in Poland and other Nazi-held lands.
