Premier David Ben Gurion today presented his first official report to President Chaim Weizmann in the presence of members of the Cabinet and other highly placed government officials.
Dr. William Haber, advisor on Jewish affairs to the U.S. command in Europe, paid a visit to Jerusalem to see at first-hand "what is being done by the Israeli Government and the Jewish Agency for the absorption of tens of thousands of immigrants who are arriving every day in Israel."
After conferring with Israeli Immigration Minister Moshe Shapiro here and leading members of the Jewish Agency executive, Haber visited the reception camps maintained by the Agency for newly-arrived DP immigrants. "The achievements in absorbing immigrants," Dr. Haber later told newsmen, "prove Israel’s abilities, but the Israeli Government cannot be expected to bear the entire burden of immigration and absorption. World Jewry, particularly American Jewry, must lend its shoulder to this task."
