Premier Golda Meir will head the Cabinet committee on conversions that take place abroad, it was announced here yesterday. The committee was set up under the coalition agreement to study the “Who is a Jew” conversion problem, consult with Jewish scholars of all streams of Judaism and suggest a legislative solution within a year. Other committee members will be Justice Minister Haim Zadok (Labor), Victor Shemtov (Mapam), Yosef Burg and Yitzhak Rafael (National Religious Party), and Gideon Hausner (Independent Liberal Party). Premier Meir will also head a new Cabinet committee dealing with social problems.
