Preparations for the sessions of the American Jewish Congress, which will be held here October 19 and 20, were completed at a conference held here Thursday. The conference, which took place at the National Press Club, was attended by local Jewish leaders who were addressed by Samuel Blitz, organization director of the Congress.
A banquet in honor of Harry Snell, M. P., Labor member of the Shaw Commission which investigated the causes of the August, 1929, riots in Palestine, was arranged. Mr. Snell will be a guest of the Congress during its convention here.
The officers elected for the convention include Leopold V. Freudberg, chairman of the banquet committee; Joseph Tepper, chairman of the election committee; Mrs. John Safer, chairman of the women’s committee; Morris Garfinkle, Louis E. Spiegler, Joseph A. Wilner, Mrs. David Alper, vice chairmen of the election committee; Maurice Bisgoyer, executive secretary, and Oscar Leonard, secretary of the election committee. The honorary convention officers will be named by a committee headed by Isidore Hershfield. The sessions of the Congress will be held at the Willard Hotel.
