Preparations to Welcome Warburg in Full Swing

Felix M. Warburg, who sailed Saturday on the Aquitania for New York, will be the guest of honor at a reception and luncheon by the Business Men’s Council of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies, at the Hotel Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, June 28, it was announced by Sol M. Stroock, president of the Federation.

Percy S. Straus, chairman of the Business Men’s Council of the Federation, has named Edwin S. Friendly, business manager of “The Sun,” as chairman of an executive committee to arrange the reception.

Mr. Warburg, who was one of the founders of the Federation and its first president when it was established ten years ago, is now chairman of the Federation board.

Notables from many cities will attend the welcoming dinner to be given to Felix M. Warburg, chairman of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, to celebrate his return to this country after a six month’s tour around the world. Over 150 acceptances have been received in the few days since invitations were issued, it was announced. The plan of the dinner, which is being tendered as a tribute of personal esteem to Mr. Warburg by a group of his closest friends and co-workers, has been greeted with enthusiasm on all sides.

Mr. Warburg is expected to arrive in New York Saturday, June 18 on the Aquitana. The dinner will take place Thursday evening, June 23, at the Hotel Astor. Its sponsors are Louis Marshall, David A. Brown, national chairman of the United Jewish Campaign; Paul Baerwald, treasurer of the Joint Distribution Committee; Col. Herbert H. Lehman, and James N. Rosenberg, vice-chairmen of the J.D.C.
