Discussing vital topics of present day Jewish life, Professor Johan J. Smertenko, well known author and lecturer, addressed large audiences in Trenton and Perth Amboy, N. J., Arverne, L. I., Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, Erie, Buffalo, Cleveland and Detroit. Professor Smertenko, whose subjects include “The Jewish Question in America,” the “Challenge to American Jewry,” “Nordic and Jewish Prejudices” and other topics of general and Jewish interest, is making a tour throughout the Jewish communities in various parts of the United States. This lecture tour has been arranged by the “Jewish Daily Bulletin.”
Professor Smertenko’s purpose in the lectures he is delivering is to indicate a path the Jews may follow whereby they will make their most vital contribution as Americans and retain their distinctive characteristics. Professor Smertenko will also utilize his tour to write a series of articles for the “Jewish Daily Bulletin”, on the situation of the Jewish communities in the United States.
Mlle. Maxa Nordau, daughter of the late Dr. Max Nordau, addressed gatherings in Albany and Wilmington, Del.
Mlle. Nordau, who is a well known artist as well as a speaker, had for her subject intimate reminiscences of her father. She will speak in various cities in the United States, her tour being arranged by the “Jewish Daily Bulletin.”
