President Bush called Ehud Olmert, the acting Israeli prime minister. The two leaders spoke Thursday morning, the White House said, and Bush expressed his “deep concern” about Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, who suffered a stroke Jan. 4 and is still in hospital. “He wished the acting prime minister well in these difficult circumstances,” the White House said in a statement.
