President Bush declared three Syrian institutes as proliferators of weapons of mass destruction. The three institutes named in Thursday’s presidential order are Syria’s Higher Institute of Applied Science and Technology, the Electronics Institute and the National Standards and Calibration Laboratory. The order freezes any U.S. assets belonging to the institutes and bans U.S. nationals from doing business with them.
