President Bush told Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that a successful Iraq war would lead to progress in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Bush called Sharon on Wednesday on the occasion of his 75th birthday, and congratulated him on his election victory last month. The two discussed Israel’s support for the “road map” toward Middle East peace and plans for a U.S. aid package for Israel.
