President Clinton agreed to allow U.S.-based aerospace company Lockheed Martin to increase this year’s commercial rocket launches in Russia from 16 to 20 after the United States received assurances that Russia would impose new restrictions on the export of missile technology to Iran. Also on Tuesday, a House subcommittee heard testimony about the Iran Nonproliferation Act, a measure that would ban U.S. aid to the Russian space program if the president finds that Russia is helping Iran obtain missile technology or weapons of mass destruction.
