President Federico Laredo Bru today signed a decree instructing Cuban consulates to extend visas to persecuted European Jews “in accordance with Cuba’s immigration laws. The State Department explained that the Republic will accept only Jews who are “physically and financially sound and can contribute to the economic development of Cuba.”
