President Francois Mitterrand has promised to try and help Israel maintain its current agricultural exports to Western Europe often Spain and Portugal become full members of the European Economic Community (EEC) in 1986 and begin to enjoy preferential tariffs. Spain and Portugal sell in Western Europe agricultural products similar in kind and availability to those exported by Israel.
