A Torah which was given to President Kennedy last Fall by the Union of American Hebrew Congregations was presented on loan to B’nai B’rith in White House ceremonies today.
Presidential Assistant Meyer Fefilman turned over the sacred scroll to B’nai B’rith officials for exhibit at the organization’s headquarters building here. The Torah, which originally belonged to Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise, founder of Reform Judaism in the United States, will remain on exhibit at the B’nai B’rith building for one year after which it will be returned to the White House for subsequent presentation for similar exhibit purposes to another Jewish organization.
