Protests against “certain” American organizations “meddling in South American Jewish community life” were reiterated here today at a meeting of the Kehilla, the Buenos Aires Jewish community. Gregorio Fainguersch, president of the Kebilla, said that South American communities will not tolerate such interference.
Earlier this week, Dr. Isaac Goldenberg, president of the DAIA, the representative organization of Argentine Jewry, criticized plans by the B’nai B’rith Board of Governors in Washington to provide aid in human relations activities in Latin American countries.
A 21-member American Jewish Congress delegation headed by Will Maslow and Phil Baum, was received today at a special session of the DAIA executive. The visitors were briefed on problems affecting South American Jewry, including anti-Semitism and relations with the Church and trade unions. Speakers at the session included Dr. Goldenberg, Mr. Fainguersch and Mark Turkow, secretary of the South American executive of the World Jewish Congress.
