President Carlos Ibanez of Chile today dedicated the new Collegio Hebreo, school for higher Jewish studies, in a special ceremony. The school. named for the late Dr. Chaim Weizmann, first President of Israel, was built at a cost of $130,000. Funds for the building were raised by the local Jewish community.
The ceremony of dedication heard addresses by Minister of Education Borquez, Israel Minister Goren and Gil Sinay, president of the Jewish central committee here. The Jewish community in this country is currently celebrating the 50th anniversary of its founding in Chile.
A cornerstone for the new temple of the “Circulo Israelita” congregation was dedicated here yesterday in connection with the celebration of the 50th anniversary. Participants in the ceremony included Chilean Foreign Minister St. Marie, Israel Minister Goren, representatives of the Chilean government and members of the Chilean Parliament.
