General Batista also lauded the 7,000 Jews of Cuba for their patriotism and devotion to their country, and for their solidarity in caring for their co-religionists. The Centro Israelita — the Jewish community, organized by the immigrants to Cuba — has been the guiding force in the upbuilding of Jewish life in Cuba.
