President Saragat of Italy will visit Auschwitz this weekend and will pay tribute there to the memory of the 2,000 Jews of Rome who had been deported to that death camp by the Nazis exactly 22 years earlier, on August 16, 1943. He left here today for a State visit to Poland and planned the visit to Auschwitz as part of his itinerary. Only a very small number of the Roman Jews deported in 1943 survived.
