Jewish immigrants “who come with the desire and skill to develop the economy of Nicaragua” are welcome, General Anastasia Samosa, President of Nicaragua, told Dr. Henry Shoskes, special HIAS representative, whom he received several days ago on his farm near Managua, it was reported here today by HIAS headquarters.
“The Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe brought with them the necessary skill and knowledge to develop the unexploited wealth and opportunities presented by Nicaragua,” the President said. “Some of them developed the coffee industry. Some organized large cattle farms, and others are active in the new sugar cane processing industry. I am glad to note that they did not come here to make quick money, but are working hard to develop for themselves and for the citizens of my country new trades and industries.”
