Dr. Siegmund Held, president of the Nuremberg Jewish Community, died in Nuremberg Jewish Community, died in Nuremberg at the age of 66.
Dr. Held had been a member of the Board of the Community since 1895 and President since 1909.
He took a prominent part in the formation of the Federation of Bavarian Jewish Communities and was a member of its Council. He was also President of the Chamber of Advocates in Nuremberg.
Percy S. Straus, vice-president of Macy’s, has extended an invitation to representatives of 134 trades and professions to attend the first fall meeting of the Business Men’s Council of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies, at Hotel Pennsylvania, Tuesday, September 28.
Frederick Brown, general chairman of the campaign which the Federation will conduct this fall for a sum exceeding $4,500,000 to maintain the ninety-one constituent societies of the Federation, will be the guest of honor. Mr. Brown has just returned from a three-month tour of European countries.
At the luncheon conference plans for the campaign will be announced. A budgetary statement will be presented by Sol M. Strook, president of the Federation; Felix M. Warburg, chairman of the board and Solomon Lowenstein, executive director of the Federation.
