Andres Martinez Trueba, President of the Council of Uruguay, received Berl Locker, Jewish Agency co-chairman, today in an audience which lasted 20 minutes. Mr. Locker was accompanied by L.A. Allon, Israel Charge d’affaires here.
Mr. Locker explained the Agency’s work in behalf of Jewish immigration and absorption before and after the establishment of the State of Israel. President Trueba stressed the friendly relations between Israel and Uruguay and expressed admiration for the job Israel had done in accepting so many immigrants from abroad. During the discussion, the Uruguayan Chief Executive showed a deep understanding of the problems facing Israel.
