President Vincent Auriol today promised a Jewish delegation that the Cabinet Council would reconsider the government’s stand on the Palestine issue, but gave no assurance that France would not abstain from voting on parti ##n when the issue is placed before the U.N. General Assembly.
The delegation, consisting of Rene Cassin, president of the Alliance Israelite; ?on Meiss, head of the Central Representative Body of French Jews; Andre Blumel, ?itical adviser to the Jewish Agency office in France; and Mare Jarblum, president of ## French Zionist Federation, stressed the anxiety of French Jewry and told the President that refusal to back partition would be contrary to the traditional policy of ?ance.
Dr. Moshe Sneh, a member of the Jewish Agency executive, who is presently in ?is, has written to Foreign Minister Georges Bldaultin connection with the issue.
