President Eisenhower told his press conference today that the United States has not considered expansion of the Eisenhower Doctrine in the Middle East and that he doubted whether its functions could be greatly expanded under the concept of the United States Constitution.
The President said “I doubt whether it could be expanded greatly and be acceptable either to me or to the Congress or indeed, possibly, under our concepts of the Constitution.”
