President Truman and Secretary of State George C. Marshall today issued greetings to the Jews of America on the occasion of Rosh Hashanah. The President’s statement, released through the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, reads:
“I extend cordial greeting to all my fellow Americans of the Jewish faith on this anniversary of the commencement of the New York. I am confident that you will vigorously play your part in solving the many problems which confront us. Let us pray that our continued efforts to establish a peaceful world will meet with an increasing measure of success.”
Secretary Marshall’s statement, also released through the J.T.A., reads:
“On the eve of the New Year I extend best wishes to all American citizens of the Jewish faith. Last year, the hope was expressed that you would unitedly support the efforts of this country and other peace-loving nations and peoples to build a peaceful world. There is a greater need for this support today and I earnestly hope for your sincere cooperation.”
