“The fine service of the B’nai B’rith during the war years has earned a nation’s gratitude,” President Truman declares in a letter to the organization, which is published in the June issue of its monthly magazine.
More than 31,000 members of the B’nai B’rith and its auxiliaries served in the armed forces, the magazine, which this month is devoted to the organization’s war effort, discloses. More than 46,000 members served as volunteers in civilian defense activities and over 1,500 military day rooms, hospital solariums, chapels, lounges and other recreational facilities were completely furnished by the B’nai B’rith. The magazine also carries messages from General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Admiral Chester Nimitz, and Basil O’Connor, chairman of the American Red Cross.
