President Truman told a group of foreign-language newspaper publishers over the week-end that he is a friend of the state of Israel. Because of the present international situation, he added, certain stops cannot be taken quickly as might be desired. He also expressed the conviction that Jews throughout the world consider him a friend of the Jewish people.
Included in the deputation were Alexander Kahn, general manager of the Jewish Daily Forward, Arthur Jacobs, of the Jewish Morning Journal, and S. Dingol, of The Day.
