President Wojciechowski, during his visit to this city, attended several divine services in the Catholic and Ukrainian churches, While the Ukrainian Churches were half empty during the services arranged on the occasion of the President’s arrival, the Synagogue, where similar services were rendered, was overcrowded.
Rabbi Goodmann, welcomed the President. The cantor and choir sang psalms. Rabbi Goodman handed over to the President the holy scrolls. The President was heartily moved by the welcome extended to him by the Jewish community. The Jewish quarter of Lemberg was decorated as it is on a holiday.
The incident of the throwing of the bomb was all most sudden surprise. Perfect order, was, however, maintained.
On Friday evening, a galla dinner was given by the Municipal authorities to which many Jewish representatives were invited. During this dinner, President Wojoiechowski stated in his toast, that the Polish Government wishes the welfare of Polish citizens, disregarding all distinctions of nationality or religion. A banquet was also arranged in honro of the President by the Wojewoda where the Jewish members of the ##.
