Prime Minister Ariel Sharon reportedly invited Israel’s just-retired army chief Shaul Mofaz to join the Likud Party if he enters politics. Sharon is said to have extended the offer at a private lunch with Lt.-Gen. Mofaz last week, the Israeli daily Ha’aretz reported. The paper said Sharon told Mofaz he would be happy if the former army chief joined the Likud.
