Prime Minister Ariel Sharon was called “the cancer at the center of the Middle East crisis” by an unnamed official in Britain’s Foreign Office, according to the Guardian newspaper. A Foreign Office spokesman later told the Jerusalem Post that “these unattributed remarks” in “no way represent the views of the Foreign Office or the government. Whoever made them is not speaking for the government.”
