Prince Edward will become the first senior member of England’s Royal Family to make a formal visit to Israel. The prince, seventh in line to the throne, is scheduled to visit the Jewish state in September. Prince Edward, whose formal title is the Earl of Wessex, was invited by the Israel Youth Award organization, which is affiliated with an international organization run by Prince Charles, Edward’s father. Although this is considered the first formal visit by a senior royal to Israel, Prince Charles attended Prime Minister Yitzchak Rabin’s funeral in 1995.
