Princess Stephanie Hohenlohe-Waldenburg-Schillingsfuerst, who today lost her breach of contract suit against Lord Rothermere, the publisher, is one of the few Jewish-born persons whose abilities were so indispensable that they were retained in the service of the anti-Semitic German Government.
Born Stephanie Richter in Vienna’s Jewish quarter, she married a Hungarian prince and was divorced after six years. She lived for a time in Berlin, working for Lord Rothermere’s London Daily Mail and gaining influence in Nazi circles. She later came to London on a mission for Chancellor Hitler and was credited with being instrumental in laying the groundwork for the Munich pact.
