Princeton will not send an official delegation to the Goettingen University bicentenary celebration, according to an announcement by President Harold W. Dodds, but the university has sent a formal greeting in Latin to the rector.
The decision not to send a delegation was reached a number of weeks ago, Dr. Dodds said, but public announcement was withheld pending preparation of the greeting “to convey Princeton’s esteem of Goettingen’s distinguished past and our hopes for the future.”
