Congressman Samuel Dickstein, vice-chairman of the Congressional Committee investigating subversive activities, will leave for Albany today or tomorrow morning to take the first step in the Committee’s fight to block the incorporation of the Friends of New Germany, pro-Nazi organization, he informed the Jewish Daily Bulletin yesterday.
The first move he will make, he said, will be to halt final approval of the certificate of incorporation until a hearing can be held before Secretary of State Edward J. Flynn on the desirability of granting the organization a charter.
SHOULD HAVE HELD HEARING
“With every justice of the peace in the country knowing that the Friends of New Germany is being investigated,” he said, “the court should have held a hearing before approving the certificate.”
Failing forestalling of final approval of the charter through the Secretary of State, Mr. Dickstein said he will seek through the Attorney General and the courts to have the charter nullified.
“I stopped incorporation of the organization in New Jersey and other states,” he declared. “The reason they are so anxious to incorporate is that they are losing members and they think they can recapture these by the sancity they will gain through incorporation.”
WRITE SECRETARY OF STATE
In a letter to Secretary Flynn, Mr. Dickstein asserted that “this organization is a mask for the Nazi party to gain a foothold in the United States, with the object, of converting this country from a democracy into a dictatorship on the Hitler model.”
The letter, written on the letterhead of the Congressional Committee, voiced the Committee’s protest against granting the charter.
