Professor Franz Boehm, head of the German delegation to the 1952 reparations negotiations with Israel at the Hague, left here today for a three-week visit to Israel, where he and his wife will be guests of the government. The Israel Government’s invitation, the first to a German couple, was extended last fall. It is also the first time that a member of the Bundestag is going to the Jewish State.
Born in Constance 59 years ago, Prof, Boehm is one of Germany’s foremost experts on cartel law. He was an official in the Reich Ministry of Economics until 1932, then chose an academic career, but in 1940 he was barred from teaching by the Nazis. Education Minister in the State of Hesse during the immediate postwar period, he later served as Rector of Frankfurt University, where he still teaches commercial law.
