Dr. Gino Luzzatto, a leader of the Jewish community of Venice, and Rector Emeritus of the University of Venice, died at his home here at the age of 86. A prominent educator in the field of economic history, he was the author of many books and standard texts on the subject.
Born in Padua, Dr. Luzzatto was professor of economic history at the Institute Universitario di Economia in Venice since 1910, and had served as a councillor on the Venice Municipality since 1950. He was vice-president of the Venice Jewish Community, and president of the CRT in Italy since 1956.
