The Royal Academy of Science announced today that Prof. Alfred Kastler of Paris has been awarded the 1966 Nobel Prize in physics. The award, which carries a cash prize of nearly $60,000, was awarded to Prof. Kastler, for his “discovery and development of optical methods for studying Hertzian resonance in atoms.”
