Prof. Mazar, Dr. Wise Re-elected by Governors of Hebrew University

Prof. Benjamin Mazar was re-elected president of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem for the next two years today at a meeting here of the Board of Governors. Israel President Itzhak Ben Zvi was named honorary president of the University. Dr. George S. Wise, head of the American Friends of the University, was named president of the Board of Governors.

In the presence of an audience of distinguished Israel scholars, government officials and leaders of national institutions, the Board awarded honorary degrees to: Prof. Joseph Klausner, noted Israel scholar; Dr. Israel Wechsler, American physician who has long been active in the University’s behalf; Dr. Julius Jarcho, another American physician long associated with the University, and Dr. Charles Crown, who was named an Honorary Fellow for his work in behalf of establishing a school of pharmacy at the University. Prof. Giulio Racach was awarded the 500 pound Bublick Prize for a work on atomic energy.
